Floor
Retrofit controls floor
Pendant and soft-limit refresh on ageing controllers without stopping the week.

Essentials on this floor
Runbooks to keep nearby
Older machines, newer controls
Plenty of SA workshops run routers bought second-hand ten years ago. The mechanics are often still fine; the controls are tired. A pendant refresh, documented soft limits and a checked emergency stop circuit can add years of safe use.
Keep cutting during the refresh
Plan the refresh in stages so the machine is down for hours, not days. Back up all settings first. A qualified electrician does the electrical work and signs off the emergency stop.
After the refresh
Train every operator on the new pendant in the same week. Pin the control map next to the machine and remove any old notes that no longer apply.
Who runs this floor
Owners of older machines and the operators who have learned their quirks.
A typical week
The refresh happens in planned stages, often over two half days. The week after is used to train every operator on the new pendant.
The gear, in one line each
- Controller Refresh: Pendant and soft-limit refresh for ageing controllers on busy floors.
- Parts Fast Bin: High-turn belts, switches, and bearings kept on the shelf for SA floors.
- Training Cell Day: One-day production cell training at Jet Park for emerging crews.
Next step
Open the essentials above for specs, layout and care, and keep the runbooks nearby. When you are ready, email cnc@cncpme.co.za with your city, a floor sketch and the floor name in the subject. See projects for shops that ran a similar floor.
