Germiston

Germiston sign nests

1212 shop bed nesting ACM and MDF for a sign crew.

The workshop

A sign crew in Germiston cutting ACM, acrylic and MDF for retail clients.

The brief

They were breaking down every sheet by hand before cutting on a smaller machine, and edge quality on acrylic varied a lot.

What we did

  • Moved full-sheet work to a 1212 bed with clamp zones
  • Split the tooling into labelled sign and board rows
  • Added an O-flute bit for acrylic and a compression bit for MDF
  • Started a spoilboard log

How it turned out

Panel saw time fell sharply and acrylic edges came off the machine ready for the client without flame polishing on most jobs.
