Floor
Coastal humidity cell
Dust, storage, and care notes for humid coastal workshops.

Essentials on this floor
Runbooks to keep nearby
Humidity changes everything
In Durban, Richards Bay, East London and other coastal towns, humid air causes rust on bare steel, swelling in MDF and caked dust in hoses. A router cell needs a few extra habits to stay accurate.
Storage and care
Store collets and spare bits with a light oil film, sheet material off the floor and wrapped, and MDF spoilboards acclimatised before surfacing. Check inside hoses for caked dust monthly.
Plan for the wet season
Summer rains bring the worst humidity. Check filters and air lines more often, and keep a dehumidifier running in a closed storage room if you store a lot of MDF.
Who runs this floor
Workshops within reach of the sea air, from the KZN North Coast to Gqeberha and East London.
A typical week
Monday starts with a rust check on anything bare steel. Hoses are checked monthly and filters more often in summer.
The gear, in one line each
