Floor

Production SME line

Repeat nests with controller refresh and quarterly service built in.

When the machine is the business

An SME line with one or two routers running most of the day cannot afford an unplanned stop. The floor is built around predictable output: a refreshed controller, soft limits, a service plan and a parts bin on the wall.

Plan downtime

Book quarterly service for quieter days and run maintenance on a schedule, not when something breaks. A lost hour on a Tuesday is cheaper than a lost Friday before a delivery.

Measure the week

Write down hours cut, jobs completed and any stops. After a month you can see where time is lost, usually changeovers and searching for things, not cutting speed.

Who runs this floor

A production manager and two or three operators running the machine most of the day.

A typical week

Planned jobs per shift, a short stand-up in the morning, and maintenance slots in the diary. The quarterly service day is booked months ahead.

The gear, in one line each

  • Router 1212 Shop: Square-metre bed for sign and furniture shops that nest full sheets.
  • Controller Refresh: Pendant and soft-limit refresh for ageing controllers on busy floors.
  • Service Quarterly: Quarterly alignment and belt service plan for routers and engravers.

Next step

Open the essentials above for specs, layout and care, and keep the runbooks nearby. When you are ready, email cnc@cncpme.co.za with your city, a floor sketch and the floor name in the subject. See projects for shops that ran a similar floor.
